community

heidi petty

Where there's a will there's a way, this is Heidi Petty's life motto. For decades, she has been creating community solutions by rebuilding networks from the smallest remnants of hope and inspiration. Through her travels and studies, she has come to realize the importance of art and artists to all cultures, places, and solutions. Art is a binding factor for all humans and a force that can bring change through collaboration. Her first attempt at creating change through art was her artist co-op, Here, There, and Everywhere in the SF Bay Area. She gathered artists from all disciplines and backgrounds in an old abandoned brothel to reshape the story of the building and the community. Often met with love and support, sometimes met with fear and disinformation, Heidi's vision was to provide artists an affordable showcase for their work. Revisioning the history of a place, she offered a building and a chance to be part of a larger collaborative effort towards change. Heidi hopes to help build an expansive network of artists that no longer starve for their arts, but instead feed the world and themselves through these new community building resources.
